SERVICES

Occupational Therapy Assessment and Intervention – assessment of sensory motor needs of children, sensory and emotional regulation (using zones of regulation) functional difficulties such as handwriting, eating, sleeping, school participation, dressing etc.

Wellbeing Services – using focused interventions to support the development of emotional literacy, self-esteem, sensory awareness and its impact on wellbeing and mental health in children and young people.

Serious and Catastrophic Injury Case Management Services – for children or young people who are following a recovery plan, a consultant role is offered to bring together all services (therapists and carers) to ensure that the there is a comprehensive and consistent approach to rehabilitation which is child and family focused.

Speech and Language Therapy – assessment of speech and language development for children and intervention including social communication support.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy assessment & intervention services. Assessment of sensory and motor skills, including functional skills assessment. Intervention to support motor skills development, classroom skills, disordered sensory processing (impacting on behaviour, eating and drinking, bowel and bladder care). Goal based intervention. Offering support for children and young people where Occupational Therapy is named as a planned intervention on the Educational Health Care Plan.

Serious & Catastrophic Paediatric Case Management

An Immediate Needs Assessment (INA), is carried out by meeting the child and family face to face at home, school or hospital setting. A clear, simple, goal-focused Rehabilitation Plan, with regular contact and monitoring will be presented to all stakeholders to support a safe and sustainable return to education or work. WS&T also organises use of agreed treatments and therapy through approved providers, and management of care teams through engagement of agency care or direct employment (awaiting CQC registration).

Wellbeing

The wellbeing of children and young people is multi-dimensional; and context dependent and needs to be considered in a holistic way, taking account of both changes at different stages of children and young people’s development and of transitions in other aspects of their lives. Intervention services include emotional literacy, self esteem, aromatherapy workshops, zones of regulation, therapeutic writing.
